Grocery Store Etiquette!

28 Nov

WARNING! THIS IS A RANT!

So if you guys don’t know already! I work at a grocery store and most night I close the store, but with the holidays its seem all the crazy like to come out of hiding and really make my job hard. Here are just a few tips to make your shopping experience better and the employee’s jobs less stressful .

1.) Use manners!

I can not tell how hard it is to be nice with some who is rude and snappy with me. When I greet you “Hey, how are you today?” and i get the response  “FINE!” There goes your whole check out experience. I refuse to be nice if the favor won’t be returned.

2.) Have all of your items when you walk up to check out.

This happens way to much. Its not only being respectful to the cashier who is checking you out but its respectful to the people in line behind you.

3.) Have you payment method with you and ready.

At the store I work at if you forget you money in the car I cannot wait for you to run to your car to get it. I have to cancel your sale and move on to the next customer which means you will have to go thought check out all over again and that is a waste of all our time.

4.) I am not a bagger!

I am not there as a bagger. Yes if it is my register I will bag your groceries and yes if i am not busy I will help. For the most part I run self check-out and I can not leave out of eye shot of the self check because people will steal. My job it to prevent that. Not to bag you groceries. That is why we have bag boys.

5.) Self check out means you check out by YOURSELF!

My job to be sure no one steal and the check for age restricted items to be sure you are old enough to buy booze. No where does it say that I have to encourage your laziness and scan all your things for you. If you want that service go wait a register. Don’t get me wrong if you have a few items and need help sure no problem or if there is an elderly person sure why not. but if you are my age with a full buggie of crap. Hell to no. DO IT YOURSELF!

6.) Get your shit and get out!

The thing that really really really pisses me off is when I make 4 announcements to let you know our store will be closing and one more when it closed but you wanna walk around and shop like you don’t care. Our store closes at 11 at night, and once we close and you are all gone I have to clean and get buggies of the lot. From time to time I have go backs I have to put away. Do you really think I wanna sit in there till mid-night waiting on you. NO! I don’t is it my fault that you wait till last minute to get you stuff no its not so why make me stay later then I need to. Its flat out rude!

This has been my short rant, and its not even half of what I would like to say. I was trying to be nice. But if you take my advice your shopping experience will be quick and pleasant. Unless you go to Wal-Mart! 🙂

Giving Thanks!

19 Nov

It that time of year where everyone is giving thanks and counting their blessings so I guess its my turn. I really have a lot to be thankful for. To start with my life. My mom and step dad will do pretty much anything to make sure I have a good life. They pay of my college and anything I need for my class. Being in cosmetology there is a lot I need. On top of that they have given me not 1 but 2 cars so they can be sure I have a way to get to and from work and school. Even thought most of the time I’m a brat and complain they still love me which is good cause I can be hard to love. I am also thankful for my friends. I have a handful of people that I truly call friends. People that I know will be there for me no matter what these friend where there for me when my dad passed and when I hit rock bottom they helped lift me up. There are not enough word for me to tell them how grateful I am for my friends.
That’s only a portion of what I am thankful for because I am writing this on my crap-berry I am not sure how much I have written. I just wanted to share my thanks and I hope you guy have counted your blessing this month. Now I’m ready for Thursday so I can stuff my face with my family and friends! Peace out.
